Obituary

OAKVILLE- Mary Margaret Lynch, 72, of Oakville, CT, passed on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Waterbury Hospital after a brief stay in the Hospice Unit.

Mary was born on August 15, 1954, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Kelley) Lynch. She graduated from local schools and served the Town of Watertown as an emergency dispatcher for over 20 years, and also spent time in San Antonio, Texas, as an airport security dispatcher and Town of Schertz as an emergency dispatcher. She loved caring for babies and had a special place in her heart for animals as she fostered kittens for Meow, Inc. She loved visiting family and traveled as often as possible, visiting England and Germany and repeatedly taking trips to Maine and Acadia National Park. She spent much of her 20s on Lake Waramaug waterskiing, camping, and picnicking with family. Mary opened her home from the moment she was married to anyone who needed a place to stay, a warm meal, or simply companionship. Mary adopted so many people that naming them all would inevitably leave some out. But the house was always full. Thank you Mom, for having a heart big enough to love so many people.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her 4 beloved children, Kelley, Nora, TJ, and Kenneth; her first granddaughter, Darien; her 5 grandchildren; and many other loving family, including nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins, and special friends. She also survived by her siblings; Julie, Jack (a special favorite), Nancy, Margaret, and Nora, and her cousin, Joe Gallagher. She was preceded in death by her brothers; Patrick and Michael, as well as her best friends, Rosie and Billy Neville.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the family's convenience and will be announced at that time. Casey-O’Neill Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 742 Main Street, Oakville, CT 06779, has been honored to assist the Lynch family during this most difficult time.
