Obituary

WATERBURY — It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Mrs. Mary Alice (Graham) Murray, age 74, of Waterbury, say farewell for now to our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, following her peaceful passing at Waterbury Hospital on Saturday, October 17th, 2026. She was the beloved widow of Mr. James Murray for 51 loving years.

Mary Alice was born on February 12, 1952, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth “Betty” (Doran) Graham. Mary dedicated her professional life to the field of phlebotomy, serving many years at Lab Corp and Waterbury Hospital before retiring from Saint Mary's Hospital. Her warmth and compassion made her a trusted healthcare provider in the community. Beyond her professional achievements, Mary was a vibrant and lively individual who cherished the simple joys in life. She had a passion for travel, shopping—especially for purses and shoes—and indulging in her love for tchotchkes. The holidays held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in decorating her home to celebrate each season. Mary was also a dedicated and active member of her community, serving as a Boy and Girl Scout leader and as a CYO catechism teacher at Saint Margaret's Church. Mary found joy in her friendships, particularly with the members of her Dinner Club, where laughter and stories flowed freely. She cherished her role as a grandmother and took great pride in her family, often sharing her favorite tales with those she loved.

Mary Alice Murray will be dearly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her spirit of love and joy will live on in the memories she created and the lives she touched.

Left to honor her memory and cherish her legacy are her daughter; Meghan Burnett and her husband Todd, her siblings; Tim Graham and Doreen Graham, and her cherished grandchildren; Colin, Erin, Julia, and Emerson. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. Mary Alice was predeceased by her son, Ryan Murray.

Funeral services for Ms. Murray will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705.
