Obituary

OAKVILLE- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Martin Oliver, affectionately known as “Marty”, age 53, of Oakville, shares the news of his unexpected passing on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Marty was born on April 17, 1973, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the beloved son of the late Manuel C. and Joan (Tato) Oliver. He spent his former years in Waterbury before moving to Oakville, where he helped cultivate a loving home for his family. Marty dedicated his career to the skilled trades, working at Cold Metal Products and Universal Welding. Those who knew him will always remember his infectious laughter, witty quips, and a steadfast determination to fix anything that needed repair. He had a special place in his heart for animals, demonstrating kindness and compassion for others.

Marty’s love story began when he met Allison Ryan. Together, they built a beautiful partnership and devoted themselves to raising their wonderful children, Kayla Orcutt and Jordan Ryan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his fur babies. An avid fan of science fiction, he enjoyed having gatherings to watch Star Wars and Star Trek with his sci-fi family and friends. He took great pride in his ability to remodel both the interiors and exteriors of his home, earning the title of a “Home Improvement Warrior.” His generous spirit meant he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, whether they were friends, family, or even the animals that found their way to him. Marty was a man with a huge heart and unwavering kindness. As a testament to his selfless nature, he chose to be an organ donor, sharing the gift of life even in his passing. He will be deeply missed by his family and those who knew him.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his children: Kayla Orcutt and Jordan Ryan, his granddaughter Luna, his siblings: Michael Oliver, Catherine Oliver and Susan Jameson and her husband John, his two nephews: Christopher Oliver and Adam Oliver and his niece, Rachael Cossette. He also leaves behind his uncles: Arnold Oliver and his wife Rae and John Tato and his wife Patty, his aunts: Suzanne Neuman and Elaine Oliver and many other extended family members and beloved friends.
