Mrs. Marita Ryan

WATERBURY – With profound sadness and heavy hearts the family of Marita Ryan, age 83 share
news of her peaceful passing on June 20, 2025 at The Village of East Farms. She was the widow of John Buckhout.

Marita was born on April 29, 1942, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Egan)Ryan. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and had a master’s degree in theology from Boston College. Marita worked as a programmer at various companies throughout the Hartford area. Those who knew Marita will remember her as a passionate dog lover, whose affection for animals brought joy to her life. She was a former member of the congregation of Notre Dame, and a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes in Boca Raton, F.L. Marita will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter,and her unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Left to honor her memory and cherish her legacy is her sister, Ann Fitzgerald, along with many nieces,nephews, extended family and friends. Marita was predeceased by her brother, J.F. Ryan.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Ryan will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 1 st , 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect, CT 06712. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in New Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterbury.There are no calling hours.
