WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness that the family of Mrs. Maria Olinda (DaSilva) Lourenco, age 91, of Waterbury, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Sunday, January 4, 2026, in the blessed comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved widow of Arsenio F. Lourenco.
Maria was born in Povoa do Forno, Portugal, on September 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Daniel and Olivia (DaSilva Barros) DeLima. Maria was a gifted cook, often bringing the family together with her delicious meals, which were made with love and heartfelt care. Her passion for crocheting was a defining feature of her life; hours spent perfecting her craft yielded not only beautiful pieces but also countless gifts for her loved ones, which will be treasured for years to come. Above all, though, Maria's greatest love was for her family. Time spent with them was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment with her granddaughter and great-grandson. Maria had an extraordinary ability to make each of them feel special, and her love for them will continue to shine brightly in their hearts.
As we say goodbye, we hold onto the beautiful memories of Maria Olinda Lourenco—a loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose spirit will forever inspire us. Her legacy of love, creativity, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy are her children: Manuel "Manny" Lourenco and his wife, Vera of Woodbury, his daughter, Manuela "Maria" Barreiro and her husband, Fernando of Waterbury, her granddaughter, Ana Cristina Quintero and her husband, Marc of Bristol, and her great-grandson, Donovan Daniel Quintero. Maria was predeceased by her husband of sixty-six years, Arsenio F. Lourenco, and her parents, Daniel and Olivia (DaSilva Barros) DeLima.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lourenco will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St., Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours.
