WATERBURY- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Maria Esposito, age 91, say goodbye for now to our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister-in-law who passed peacefully in the comfort of her own home on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted and beloved wife of Angelo Esposito.

Maria was born on October 3, 1934, in Naples, Italy, the daughter of the late Alfredo and Nunzia (DiBenedetto) Mauriello. Her spirit was shaped by the warmth of her Italian heritage, and she carried that love forward throughout her life. She was raised in Italy where she earned a diploma in sewing. After getting married Maria and Angelo courageously immigrated to the United States, where she built them, a beautiful life filled with love and laughter for her family. Together, they raised three wonderful daughters.

Maria worked at various delis in the city, but it was the Lakewood Farm Market on Lakewood Road where she worked with many of her family members. Her customers affectionately called her “Zia Maria,” a testament to the love and joy she brought into their lives. Known for her exceptional cooking, she delighted her family with the most delicious Italian meals, sharing her heritage with every dish. Maria was more than just a mother and a cook; she was a joyful soul who loved to sing and embraced life's special moments. Upon retiring, she divided her time between her home in Waterbury and her condo in Florida with her husband, Angelo, where they sang together, and created beautiful memories with their friends. May her legacy of kindness, love, and joy continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace, knowing she made a difference in this world.

In addition to her husband of 70 years, Angelo, Maria leaves to cherish and honor her memories, her daughters: Sabrina Paradise and her husband Craig, Belinda Greco O’Connor and her husband Dennis and Cythnia Esposito. Her grandchildren: Matthew, Timothy, Diona and Joseph. She also leaves behind her loving sister-in-law Maria Mauriello, many nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved siblings: Angelo, Rosa, Luisa, Olga, Vincenzo and Ciro.

The Esposito family would like to whole heartly thank the three angels who took care of Maria with much love and compassion: Bete, Julia and Jen.

Funeral services for Mrs. Esposito will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary Mother of the Church parish, St Leo the Great Church 15 Bentwood Dr Waterbury CT. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and visit with Maria’s family on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the procession leaves for church at 10:30 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT 06705.
