WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Ms. Margarita Castelano Pinto Soliz, age 69, of Waterbury, share the news of her passing on Tuesday, July 16, 2025 at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford surrounded by her loving family.
Margarita was born in Waterbury on January 16, 1956, the daughter of the late Angel Pinto and Carmen Castelano Pinto. She graduated from Crosby High School and dedicated many years of her life to working as a factory worker at various locations in Watertown. She became a proud participant in the Miss Puerto Rico of Waterbury pageant in the 1970s, Her infectious smile and vibrant personality made her a cherished friend to many, as she was always a happy, outgoing soul who loved being the center of attention. A true lover of life, Margarita had a particular passion for food, with pizza being one of her absolute favorites. However, her greatest love of all was for her family. She held a deep bond with her late son, Jerome Burke, and cherished moments with her loving family. Margarita's love for dancing brought joy to her life and to those lucky enough to share the dance floor with her. Her spirit will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Left to honor and cherish her memories are her grandchildren; Amiya Burke of Waterbury, her siblings; Angela Pinto and her husband Delio Alvarez of Danbury, Miladys Estrada of Philadelphia, Milagro Rivera and her husband Roberto of Waterbury and Orlando Pinto of Waterbury and her devoted daughter-in-law, Jamie Cossette. She also leaves her behind 10 nieces and nephews, 10 great- nieces and nephews as well as extended family members and friends. She is also predeceased by her loving son Jerome Burke and her sister Miriam Pinto.
A Memorial Gathering for Margarita will be held on Friday July 25, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
