Mr. Manuel Oliver

March 29, 1938 — December 26, 2022

WATERBURY – Manuel Oliver, age 84, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Monday, December 26, 2022 at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.
Manuel was born March 29, 1938 in Villa Franca, Portugal son of the late Arnold and Ezilda (Cardosa) Oliver Sr. He graduated from local schools and then proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his distinguished service, Manuel was employed as an aircraft mechanic at Pan Am, and then moved onto Pratt and Whitney as a mechanic for many years and retired after many years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed to tinker with things and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. What meant the most to Manuel was being a sponsor, leading meetings, and assisting many people in alcoholics anonymous (AA). He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his four children; Michael Oliver, Martin Oliver, Susan (John) Jameson, and Catherine Oliver; his three grandchildren; Adam Oliver, Christopher Oliver, Rachel Cossette and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Arnold (Rafaela) Oliver Jr., his sister-in-law, Elaine Oliver, and his sister, Suzanne Neuman. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Manuel was predeceased by his brother, Chris Oliver.
Funeral services for Mr. Oliver will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Holy Disciples Parish, 2 Buckingham Street, Oakville, CT. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends and relatives may visit with the Oliver family on Tuesday morning from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. at the Casey - O’Neill Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 742 Main Srteet, Oakville. Loving-kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence, words of comfort, or share a memory with the family and friends of someone important to you.
