WATERBURY - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Magdalen V. Bolton, age 100, says farewell for now to a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who passed peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at The Summit of Plantsville after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael Bolton St.

Mrs. Bolton was born on December 5, 1925, in Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Alexander and Monica (Paliokiute) Vilkauskus. A literal “coal miner’s daughter,” she was raised with the values of hard work, perseverance, humility, and an abiding devotion to family — values that would remain at the very heart of her life for nearly a century. After attending local schools in Pennsylvania, she met the man who would become her husband. Together, they eventually settled in Waterbury, where they built their home, raised their children, and shared the joys and challenges of family life. Her husband was a beloved police officer for the City of Waterbury, and Mag, as she was affectionately known to so many, worked at a variety of jobs over the years to help support their growing family. From working as a switchboard operator to retail sales at Caldor, she approached each job with the same quiet determination and strong work ethic that characterized her life.

She was a woman of modest means and simple pleasures who never needed much for herself. Her happiness came from knowing that her family was cared for, that there was a welcoming home to return to, and that the people she loved had what they needed. Raising her children and providing for her family were always her highest priorities, and she gave generously of herself throughout her life to accomplish just that. Blessed with an extraordinarily long life, Mag had the privilege of watching the family she nurtured grow through the generations. With the passing years came changes in the world around her, but the things that mattered most to Mag never changed—family, home, hard work, and caring for one another. Hers was not a complicated life, but it was most certainly a good and meaningful one, filled with the everyday acts of love and sacrifice that become a family’s most treasured memories.

Her children and family are especially grateful for the many years they were blessed to have her in their lives. Nearly a century of living provided countless memories, lessons, stories, and moments together that will now become an enduring part of her legacy. She lived long, she lived well, and, most importantly, she lived for those she loved. May her legacy of devotion, strength, compassion, and unconditional love remain forever in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Left to cherish and honor her memory are her children: Michael Bolton and his longtime companion Lisa Upton of Litchfield, Marcia Little and her husband Greg of Southington, and Mary Louise Shock of Newington. Mag was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her son, Martin Bolton, and her grandson, Kevin Shock.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bolton are private and will be held at her family’s convenience.
