WATERBURY — It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Ms. Luz N. Gonzalez, age 81, of Waterbury, says farewell for now to our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Waterbury Hospital.

Luz was born on October 9, 1945, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Juan and Maria Perez. She was raised in Puerto Rico, where she spent her early years surrounded by the warmth of her family and the traditions she carried with her throughout her life. In her late twenties, she moved to Chicago before eventually making Waterbury her home, where she built a life centered on love, family, and togetherness.Luz devoted herself to being a homemaker, taking great pride in caring for her family and creating a loving home. Her family was truly her world, and she lived every day with them at the center of her heart. She found happiness in the simple joys of life, especially cooking delicious meals, dancing, gardening, and spending time with friends and family. She loved joking around, sharing laughter, and bringing smiles to the faces of those she loved. Whether gathered around the table sharing a meal or simply enjoying each other’s company, Luz treasured every moment spent with her loved ones.Her family was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment, and she loved them unconditionally. Even in her final days, she was more worried about her children than herself, wanting to know that they would be okay. Her selfless love and unwavering concern for them were the true definition of a great mother. She will be remembered for that boundless love, her playful spirit, the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her, and the beautiful memories she leaves behind.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her children: Migdalia Gonzalez; Daisy Gonzalez; Luis Gonzalez; Maribel Gonzalez; Joanna Gonzalez and her husband, Maximo Sr.; Sandra Gonzalez and her husband, Edwardo; David Gonzalez and his fiancée, Patty; Radames Gonzalez and his fiancée, Marilyn; and Roderic Gonzalez Sr.She also leaves her grandchildren: Aramis, Alexis, Macho, Fabian, Jose, Francisco, Maximo Jr., Gianna, Nickki, Chrissy, David, Esmeralda, Natori, Jazmalyn, Romeo, Royce, Jasmine, and Roderic Jr.; her siblings, Providencia, Carmen, Jane, Johnny, and Lydia; as well as many great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and beloved friends. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Emilio Cardona, who passed away earlier this year.

Funeral services for Ms. Gonzalez will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705.
