WATERBURY – Mrs. Lorraine Anne (Grenier) Shaw, age 77, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital, Tuesday July 29, 2025 surrounded by the love of her devoted family.
Lorraine was born on June 2, 1948 in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late Raymond E. and Germaine (Berthiaume) Grenier. She received her primary education from St. Anne’s School and later graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School, Class of 1966. In her professional career, she worked for Peter Paul Cadbury in Naugatuck as a Human Resources Administrator, but her true vocation was found in her lifelong devotion to her faith. She served as Church Secretary at St. Patrick’s Parish in Waterbury and St. Maria Goretti’s Parish in Wolcott, where her kindness and quiet dedication touched countless lives.
Lorraine enjoyed many creative pursuits and artistic endeavors. Favorite pastimes included singing, glass etching, clay modeling, and traveling with her sister. She always enjoyed a long car or motorcycle ride, especially in the fall. Above all else, she loved to spend time with her beloved children and grandchildren who all brought her immense joy, especially during the Christmas season, which was her favorite time of year.
A devout Catholic, Lorraine lived her faith not just in word, but in the way she cared for others. Above all, she excelled at being a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and wife. She was a shining example of grace, dignity, kindness, and unwavering strength. May she now find eternal peace in the loving embrace of her Lord and Savior, reunited with those she loved and forever remembered by those who loved her.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her son Eric Shaw with his fiance Joleen Urso of Waterbury, and daughter Sarah Glidden with her husband Daniel Glidden of New Haven. Lorraine was gifted by the Lord with six loving grandchildren: Nathaniel (20), Gwyneth (18), Tyler (11), Caleb (6), Payton (6), and Dakota (4). She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Lorraine was the beloved wife of the late Earl “Chuck” John Shaw II, and was predeceased by her siblings: Marie Claire Grenier, Raymond E. Grenier and Robert R. Grenier.
In memory of Lorraine, hug one another a little tighter and remember how much joy she brought into the lives of others. Through the tears, there is great solace in knowing that God has safely taken her home.
Her life will be privately celebrated by her family. We ask for your love and your prayers during this sorrowful time. If you wish to honor her in a special way, a small donation to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be most welcome. www.stjude.org
