Obituary

WATERBURY- In heartfelt gratitude for a long life well -lived, the family of Lorraine B. (St. Martin) Noonan age 93, announce her peaceful passing on Tuesday, June 09, 2026, at The Lutheran Home in Southbury after an extended illness. She was the widow of Francis G. “Luke” Noonan Jr.

Lorraine was born on March 10, 1933, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Brigadier General Wilfred St. Martin and Dora (Payeur) St. Martin. She was a proud graduate of St. Mary's Grammar School, Waterbury Catholic High School, and the St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. Lorraine took great pride in her vocation as a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career in the Operating Room at St. Mary's Hospital, where her compassionate spirit and dedication to caring for others were evident from the very beginning. Later, while raising her family, she continued serving others through her work at Cedar Lane Nursing Home. A woman of deep and abiding Catholic faith, Lorraine was a devoted member of SS. Peter and Paul Parish, where she and her husband raised their family. She worked tirelessly to ensure that her children were grounded in the values and traditions of the Catholic faith that meant so much to her. Lorraine was actively involved in parish life, participating in numerous church activities and lending her voice to the parish choir. Lorraine was also a talented and enthusiastic craftswoman who found joy in sewing, creating handmade treasures, and pursuing countless creative projects. A familiar face at JoAnn Fabrics, she rarely missed an opportunity to browse for materials for her next creation. Yet, despite her many interests and accomplishments, Lorraine's greatest joy was always found in caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Lorraine's legacy is one of faith, strength, resilience, and unconditional love. Through her example, she shaped the lives of those around her, offering guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support. She took immense pride in her family's accomplishments and happiness, and the lessons she taught through both word and example will continue to inspire future generations.

While Lorraine excelled in many roles throughout her life, she was most extraordinary as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family wishes to thank her for every prayer she offered on their behalf, for the countless sacrifices she made without complaint, for the thousands of hugs she shared so freely, and for the endless love she poured into each of their lives. Her love remains a lasting gift, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who were blessed to know and love her. The Noonan family would like to acknowledge and thank the entire staff at the Lutheran Home for the care and love they shared with Lorraine and her family throughout her stay.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memories are her children, Catherine Noonan of Richmond VA, Lynn Seymour of Watertown, Timothy Noonan and his wife Christine of Goshen and Daniel Noonan and his wife Michelle of Southington. She also leaves her adored grandchildren; Michael, William, Alexandra (Kyle) Patrick, Max, Cassie and Kendall and her great grandchildren; Abel and Mariah. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Wilfred Jr., Edmond, and Richard, her son-in-law Christopher Seymour and her son, Paul Noonan.

Funeral services for Mrs. Noonan will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Dominic's Church, Flanders Road, Southington. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. To honor Lorraine’s memory and in lieu of flowers, donations to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org would be greatly appreciated by her family.
