Mrs. Linda Bruce

September 20, 1944 — June 25, 2023

Former Wolcott finance officer

WOLCOTT- Linda Ann (Rockhill) Bruce, 78, beloved wife of Michael Bruce, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 25, 2023, at her home where she was surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Waterbury on September 20, 1944, Linda was the baby girl that Lawrence and Martha (Fleck) Rockhill had longed to add to their family of three sons. Linda grew up in Naugatuck’s “Cotton Hollow” neighborhood and graduated from Naugatuck High School. Linda worked her way up through the ranks at the Eastern Company, Thunder Ridge Management Co., Cedar Metals and The Bristol Press. Linda’s career in bookkeeping and accounting eventually led to her role as the Municipal Finance Officer for the Town of Wolcott. Due to her passion for jewelry, Linda held a part time position at Michaels Jewelers in the Brass City Mall for many years.

Linda loved her animals, had an incredible eye for beauty and enjoyed camping. She was an active member of Wolcott Congregational Church and maintained a lifelong membership with Naugatuck Congregational Church. Throughout her life, Linda was blessed with a strong faith, a wonderful family and great friends who will all miss her dearly. She was indeed a stellar example of grace and class.

In addition to her husband Michael of 50 years, her stepchildren Cathe B. (Robert) Sherman and Deane M. (Allyson) Bruce; her grandchildren Keith and Kyle Sherman, Allyssa and Aaron Bruce; her great grandson Julian Michael Sherman; her nieces Martha Mannion and Donna Masciangioli; and her nephew Robert R. Rockhill Jr. are left to cherish her memory. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her three brothers Lawrence E., Stuart I. and Robert R. Rockhill Sr.

The family is thankful to Linda for every prayer she uttered for us, for the many sacrifices she made for us, for the thousands of hugs she shared with us and the unending love she instilled in all of us.

Words cannot express our gratitude for the care and love that both the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance Association and VITAS Hospice provided to Linda and her family during her illness.

Linda’s life will be celebrated with a Memorial Service on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Wolcott Congregational Church, 185 Center Street on the Wolcott Town Green, followed by a burial in Edgewood Cemetery. Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care is honored to serve Linda’s family at this time. In lieu of flowers, per Linda’s request, donations to the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 6066, Wolcott CT 06716 would be greatly appreciated by her family.
