WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Leon Paul Susarchick, age 78, of Waterbury, shares the news of his peaceful passing on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Bristol Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Leon was born on February 17, 1948, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the beloved son of Matthew Susarchick Sr., and Florence (Farina) Gryniuk. He lived his life with a deep passion for the simple joys that brought him happiness. An avid fan of both hunting and fishing, he cherished the great outdoors and the peace it offered. Leon was especially gifted in the art of painting, not only as a profession but also to lend a helping hand to his friends and family. As a devoted sports enthusiast, Leon would proudly support the Philadelphia Eagles and UConn basketball teams. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his family, especially with his many nephews and nieces.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Leon’s niece, Michele Susarchick, for her constant presence in Leon's life, always checking in and providing him with the love and care he needed during his journey.
Left to honor and cherish his memory, are his nephew; Michael Susarchick of Lakeland, FL, his nieces; Laurie Sargeant and her husband Howard of Waterbury, Michele Susarchick of Waterbury and Kimberly Susarchick of Wolcott, his sister in law; Joan (Morin) Susarchick of Wolcott, and his great- nieces and nephews; Justin, Matthew, Madison, Emily, Kaitlyn, Luke and Jenna. He also leaves his cousins; Beverly and Jimmy Macburney and Jerry and Anthony Gardino and many extended family members and beloved friends especially Danny Ferrari. He was predeceased by his brother; Matthew Susarchick Jr.
