WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Lawrence Joseph Martin, age 62, of Waterbury, shares the news of his unexpected passing on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
Lawrence was born on September 26, 1963 in Saint Albans, Vermont, the beloved son of the late Lawrence Martin and Janice (Bechard) Galpin. He lived a life dedicated to service, having worked as a supervisor in the food service industry for KFC for 28 years. Known for his unwavering commitment and strong work ethic, he touched the lives of many during his time there. His passion for life extended beyond his career; he cherished the moments spent traveling, with his most recent adventure taking him to Colombia. He also loved spending time with his family, creating memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
As we gather to remember Lawrence, we invite all who knew him to join us in celebrating a life well lived with kindness and compassion. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
Left to cherish and honor his memory are his siblings: Carol Newell and her husband Mac of Pennsylvania, Laurie Martin of Vermont, Michelle Fairbanks and her husband Frank of Vermont and Elizabeth Sheehan and her boyfriend John of Waterbury. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and beloved friends. He is preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Rodger and Sophia Watrous.
A Memorial Gathering for Mr. Martin will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family. In this time of reflection, the family welcomes all who knew and loved Lawrence to share messages of condolence, comfort, and cherished memories.
