Lawrence M. Jacoby MD

Waterbury--Dr. Lawrence M. Jacoby, 61, of West Hartford died on October 25, 2007 at Saint Mary's Hospital following a long illness.

Dr. Jacoby was a graduate of Syracuse University and the School of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut and in Dermatology at George Washington University. He was a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and practiced dermatology in Avon, CT for more than 30 years. Dr. Jacoby was a member of the medical staff at St. Francis Hospital, the University of Connecticut Health Center, and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Dr. Jacoby was nationally recognized in his field and was a frequent guest lecturer on topics related to dermatology.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jane Bogue Jacoby of West Hartford; son Michael and his wife Melissa (Freidel) Jacoby of Boston, MA, daughters Rachel and Sara Jacoby of New York, NY, brothers Dr. Ronald Jacoby of Jupiter, FL and Dr. Peter Jacoby of Woodbury, CT, mother Sylvia Jacoby of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and a grandson Alexander Lawrence Jacoby of Boston, MA. He was pre-deceased by his father, Dr. Ralph Jacoby of Mt. Vernon, NY and a son, Eric Jacoby of Simsbury, CT.

Dr. Jacoby was an avid skier, golfer and traveler. Because of his commitment to the UConn Children's Cancer Fund, he organized and participated in One Lap for Kids in 1987, raising over one hundred thousand dollars for the charity. More than anything, Dr. Jacoby will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his patients and the community, and for living life to the fullest and inspiring those he loved to do the same.

There will be no formal funeral service. Friends and family may pay their respects at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Steven Belinkie, 12 Lakeview Drive in West Hartford on Sunday October 28 from 3PM until 8 PM. Minyan will be at 7:00 PM. The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to the UCONN Children's Cancer Center c/o UCONN Health Center Development Office, 263 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, CT 06034-4032.
