OAKVILLE- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Laura (Maksymiw) Sharp, age 71, of Oakville, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Thursday, July 02, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Leslie Sharp.
Laura was born on November 25, 1954, in Bridgeport, CT, the daughter of the late John and Laura (Eckholm) Maksymiw and graduated from Notre Dame in Fairfield. Her career began as an administrative assistant at the Home Builders Association of Fairfield County, where she dedicated over 20 years before embarking on a new venture as a small business owner of a silk flower shop. Laura cherished the time spent caring for her grandchildren, filling her days with love and laughter. She had an adventurous spirit that led her on annual trips to Old Orchard Beach in Maine and a zest for life evident in her love of travel. Laura was a devoted fan of UConn Women’s basketball and the Connecticut Sun, a wine enthusiast, loved her jewelry and gardening, cherished the excitement of parades and fireworks, and had a great fondness for flamingos and cats. Above all, Laura cherished the moments spent with her family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever. Her legacy will live on through the stories she told, the lessons she taught, and the love that she shared. May she find eternal rest and peace beyond measure, and may she never be forgotten.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, besides her husband of 52 years, Leslie, are her children: Geoffrey (Tiffany) Sharp, Dawn (Brian) Hurley, Robert Sharp, and his partner Chrissy, and her grandchildren: Alexa, Leo, Jordan, Alexander, Ryder, Brayden, and Drake. She leaves her brother Michael (Karen) Maksymiw, sister Debbie Maksymiw, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and her beloved cats.
