It is with profound sadness that the family of Laura Gorman, age 67, share news of her peaceful passing on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Vitas Inpatient Unit of St Mary’s Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Laura was born on June 9, 1957 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Ruth (Reed) Gorman. She was the third of six siblings and attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grammar School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1975. She graduated from Western Connecticut State College with a degree in Political Science, and later earned two master's degrees in Education and Reading. She worked as a Title I Reading Specialist for Waterbury Public Schools for several years.
Outside of her profession, Laura found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a deep love for the beach and swimming, often spending her summers by the water, basking in the sun and enjoying the waves. A passionate sports enthusiast, Laura was an avid supporter of WNBA teams and a die-hard UConn women’s basketball fan. What Laura loved the most was being with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to love and know her.
Laura is survived by her partner for over 25 years, Bridget Tartaro, her siblings; Patrick (Darcie) Gorman of Laguna Beach, CA, Daniel Gorman of Watertown, and Ruth (John) Haines of Kirtland, OH. She is predeceased by her brothers Andrew and Thomas Gorman, and sister-in-law Linda(Veronneau)Gorman. She also leaves her many nieces and nephews, godson, Daniel Arroyo and his family, her best friend, Albert Budzinovski, along with extended family and friends.
All services for Ms. Gorman will be held privately at the convenience of her family. She will be interred in her family plot in New St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterbury.
