Obituary

Lance Andrew Belury, age 59 of Wallingford, entered into peaceful rest on Friday, February 6, 2026.

Lance was born in Waterbury on April 13, 1966, the son of the late Andrew George Belury and Genevieve (Cashin) Belury. Lance, known for his quick wit and dry sarcasm, had a gift for speaking from the heart, his words shaped by honesty and a quiet sense of truth. Though Lance kept a small, close family circle, devoting his time to researching, learning & sharing with great pride his family history, he built a wide and enduring community of friends throughout his life. His friendships were rooted in shared experiences, loyalty, and a deep appreciation for humor. Lance found his greatest joy on the water, summers on Nantucket at Why Worry, the family summer home, were among his most treasured times. He lived aboard his boat in Noank, Connecticut, for more than a decade, embracing a life shaped by independence and the steady rhythm of the sea. Sailing in Mystic aboard Ocean Mist and Sweet Treat brought him peace, freedom, and contentment. By trade, Lance was a general independent contractor who took great pride in his work and his ability to build, fix, and figure things out. He showed care through presence, shared time, and being there for the moments that mattered most to him. Lance will be remembered for his love of the water and the many friendships he formed along the way. Those who knew him will miss his stories, his generous and lively spirit, and his funny way of making this world a little better.

Lance was a devoted father to McKenna Belury and is survived by her partner, Nicholas Barone, his stepdaughter, Kaitlyn Long, and her husband, Kenneth Long. He is also lovingly remembered by his twin sister, Cynthia Belury; his sister, Kimberly Belury; his half-brother, Robert Savage, and his wife, Kathy Savage; his nieces and nephews, Bailey Matos, Riley Matos, and his wife, Carly Matos; and Emily Matos and her fiancé, Changhee Kang. Along with several step-grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. Lance is further survived by his partner, Denise Davis, who shared his life and many of his days.
