Obituary

WOLCOTT - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Kevin J. Rourke, age 71, say farewell for now, to our beloved brother, uncle, and friend, following his passing on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Waterbury Hospital.

Kevin was born on July 14, 1955, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of the late John E. "Jack" and Eleanor (McCarthy) Rourke. He was a proud graduate of Wolcott High School and later earned his degree from Post College, setting the stage for a successful career in automotive sales and management. Kevin's sharp wit and infectious laughter were matched only by his love of good food and the joy he found in hosting gatherings at his cherished home by Hitchcock Lake. This is where many family gatherings were held. His warm spirit and generous heart created a welcoming atmosphere that family and friends will deeply miss. A lover of history, most especially Waterbury, Kevin traveled extensively, embracing experiences in Ireland, the Panama Canal, the Bahamas, and Belgium. He had a particular fondness for Irish songs, often filling his home with melodies that celebrated his cultural heritage. Kevin was a devoted friend of Bill W. and made many lifetime friends there. He loved Waterbury, where he made lasting memories. Above all, Kevin will be remembered by his siblings and his nieces and nephews as a warm, and devoted person with strong family ties. Kevin's legacy of kindness and laughter will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. May his memory be a blessing and may he rest in the loving arms of his Savior.

Left to honor and cherish his memory are his siblings: Timothy Rourke and his wife, Mary Ellen of Wolcott; Terrence Rourke of Oakville; and Colleen (Rourke) Marcil of Wolcott, as well as several nieces, nephews, and good friends. He is predeceased by his brother, John E. "Jack" Rourke I
