Devoted to her husband and family
OAKVILLE - Kathleen (Zabit) Kontout, age 64 of Oakville passed away peacefully on Friday September 10, 2021 at St Marys Hospital with the comfort of her family by her side after a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Steven Kontout.
Kathy was born January 21, 1957 in Waterbury, the daughter of Loretta (Lepearle) and the late Raymond Zabit. Kathy graduated from Southington High School and worked for many years at St. Marys Hospital as a Unit Clerk throughout the hospital but spent most of her career there in the Same day Surgery Unit as a Patient Services Representative. Kathy courageously dealt with MS for many years and towards the end of her working career was in a wheelchair. As difficult as her illness and challenges were, she seldom missed a day of work and was a loyal and dedicated employee of St. Mary's always welcoming friends, visitors and patients alike with her warm smile. She was an extremely kind-hearted woman, always made the most of her life and always put others ahead of herself. She enjoyed shopping but most of all she was happiest, surrounded by her husband and family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to honor and cherish her memory, besides her mother of Southington and her husband and best friend of 43 years, Steven are her children; daughter, Lauren Kontout of Naugatuck and her son, Justin Kontout of Oakville, her brother, Raymond Zabit of Harwinton and sisters; Paulette Carlson of NC and Judy Myers of FL. Steve and Kathy were blessed with four grandchildren; Alexis Smitley, and Jayden, Julian and Kristian Kontout as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially her co-workers at STMH.
A Memorial Service for Kathy will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Relatives and friends may visit with Kathy's family on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. We remain concerned about the ongoing pandemic so masks will be required during all indoor services whether you are vaccinated or not.
