PLANTSVILLE- Julia Stack age 97, of Plantsville, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her children on Sunday, January 2, 2022. She was the widow of Patrick Stack.

Affectionately known as "Sheila" and "Nana," Julia was born on April 13, 1924 in Rathoneen, Ardfert, County Kerry, Ireland, the daughter of the late Timothy and Ellen (Reagan) Carmody. Julia was raised and educated in Ireland and immigrated to the United States in 1952, settling in Waterbury, where she and her husband raised their family. After her children were grown, she worked at Saint Mary's Hospital until her retirement. Julia was a devout Catholic and former member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. Most notably, she was a dedicated mother and grandmother who helped raise her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time at the beach, shopping, and traveling. She especially treasured her trips to Ireland, Hawaii and Italy, with the highlight of that trip being when she was blessed by the Pope.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children; Eileen Hamel and her husband, Bruce of Clermont FL; Patrick Stack and his wife, Debra of Uhland, TX; Sheila Solernou and her husband, Ramon of Waterbury; Timothy and his wife, Amanda of Berlin, CT; and Kathleen Duffy and her husband, Robert of Plantsville. Julia was blessed with 6 grandchildren; Michelle, Jennifer, Bruce, Kathleen, Lauren, and Kristen and 6 great grandchildren; Connor, Aidan, Travis, Camden, Brody, and Cameron. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings: David Carmody, Timothy Carmody, Paddy Carmody, Bridget Ashe, and Molly Carmody.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stack will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville, CT. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Julia's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or ORTV (Office of Radio & Television), 15 Peach Orchard Rd., Prospect, CT 06712.

We continue to remain very concerned about the ongoing pandemic so masks will be required during all indoor services regardless of your current vaccination status.
