WATERTOWN - Judy (Cullinan) Hurlbut, 70, of Watertown, CT passed away on Sunday October 23, 2022 surrounded by the love and comfort of her immediate family at the Sister Anne Virginie Grimes Center in New Haven. She was the wife of Robert Hurlbut.
Judy was born in Waterbury, CT April 5, 1952, a daughter of the late Thomas and Madeline (Card) Cullinan and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury and Cardinal Cushing College in Boston. Prior to raising her two children she worked as a medical secretary at Saint Mary’s Hospital and then went on to work for Saint Francis Xavier school as a Kindergarten teacher. Judy was devoted to her family. Her greatest joy was having everyone together under the same roof. She loved and was so loved by her four granddaughters who were the brightest light in her life. She enjoyed traveling and spending time at the beach, especially her favorite home away from home Cape Cod. Following in her father’s footsteps, she was a devout Yankees fan who never missed a game. Judy was a kind and generous soul with many circles of friends whom she loved dearly. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.

Besides her beloved husband of 49 years, Bobby, Judy is survived by her son, Brian Hurlbut and his wife Heather of Cheshire; her daughter, Kristen Gwiazdoski and her husband Paul of Waterbury; four loving granddaughters whom she cherished; Anna, Grace, Leah and Emily; her sister Patricia Dawson of Cheshire and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Maryellen (Cullinan) Hogrefe. Judy’s family would like to thank and acknowledge the staff at the Sister Anne Virginie Grimes Center for their loving care and the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale NH Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hurlbut will be held on Friday October 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with the Hurlbut family on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury @Southmayd Rd.
