Loving Sister, Aunt and Friend

WATERTOWN – Judith Rose Maria Valuckas, age 78, of Watertown, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love and comfort of her family on Monday, December 11th, 2023, after an extended illness.

Judi was born June 7th, 1945, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Kostantos and Mary (Stanevich) Valuckas. Judy was a graduate of Saint John’s Elementary School, Watertown High School, and attended Saint Joseph’s College, where she studied English and received her master's degree in communications from Syracuse University. Judi spent many years working as a program system analyst in the insurance industry and worked for various companies throughout the Hartford area, including Aetna and Travelers. Judi was an advocate for many disability groups and was an active member of many Hartford area disability organizations. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and UConn Huskies Basketball fan enjoyed gardening and taking care of her houseplants and had a love for birds. She was an active parishioner of Saint John the Evangelist Church in Watertown.

Most of all, she treasured time spent with family, especially during the holidays and special occasions. Judi’s family thanks her for every prayer she uttered for us, for the many sacrifices she made for us, for thousands of hugs she shared with us and the unending love she instilled in all of us.

Left to honor her memory and cherish her legacy are her brothers, Peter Valuckas and his wife, Frieda, of Puyallup, Wash.; Timothy Valuckas and his wife, Pauline "Polly," of East Litchfield, Thomas Valuckas of Watertown, Michael Valuckas of Waterbury; her sister, Sister Barbara Valuckas, SSND, of Watertown; sisters in law, Elizabeth Valuckas, of Enfield and Vera Valuckas of RI, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends. She was predeceased by her brothers; John Valuckas David Valuckas, and Richard Valuckas.

Funeral services for Ms. Valuckas will be on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St., Watertown. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. There are no calling hours.
