WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and truly broken hearts that the family of Joyce White, age 68, of Waterbury, shares the news of her unexpected passing at Yale New Haven Hospital on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Joyce was born April 11th, 1957, in Jacksonville, NC, the daughter of the late James R White and Nora (Canady) White. Joyce was raised and educated in her home state before moving to Connecticut in the 1970s, where she devoted her life to raising her beloved family in the Waterbury area. Joyce received her associate degree in Early Childhood Development. She dedicated her career to caregiving, serving selflessly at various local agencies, most recently with Ability Beyond and Independent Living Solutions. Her compassionate spirit and unwavering commitment touched the lives of countless individuals, and she will be remembered as a nurturing figure, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a warm meal. An exceptional cook, Joyce cherished bringing her family and friends together around the dining table, creating lasting memories through her culinary delights and infectious warmth. Joyce was a vibrant soul, known for being the life of the party. A devoted mother to many, she took great joy in nurturing others, always ensuring everyone had a drink in hand as the beloved bartender at her gatherings. Her passions extended beyond the kitchen; she enjoyed spirited games of cards like spades, pitty-pat, and shooting darts. She was a proud fan of the Detroit Pistons and the Chicago Bears. She embraced her favorite teams with enthusiasm and loyalty.
A long-time active member of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World, where she was awarded the Elks Ball queen of 1996. Joyce’s commitment to community service exemplified her caring nature and connection to those around her. Joyce's legacy of love, compassion, and community service will surely endure in the hearts of all who knew her. We invite all those whose lives were touched by Joyce to join in commemorating her remarkable spirit and the indelible mark she left on our lives. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by love and light.
