Josephine "Pina" Aurilia

June 11, 1932 — November 24, 2022

Mrs. Josephine “Giuseppina” (Tassa) Aurilia, lovingly called Pina, daughter of the late Angelo and Grazia Tassa was born June 11, 1932. She finished her journey on earth on Thanksgiving morning, November 24, 2022, at the age of 90 at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Pina was born in Cassano Irpino, Avellino, Italy, the fourth of nine children. She moved to Philadelphia, PA in 1970 where she resided until 2005. After the passing of her beloved husband, she moved to Waterbury, CT to live near her family. As the only sibling who moved to America, she always kept in close contact with her family whom she loved dearly and had a strong bond with.

In addition to her parents, Pina was predeceased by her devoted husband of 45 years, Giovanni Aurilia. She was also predeceased by five brothers and one sister, Stefano, Giovanni, Antonio, Gerardo, Daniele & Luisa Tassa.

Pina professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and served the Lord authentically throughout her days. Her Christian life was beautiful and evident to all and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She is known for her glowing smile and showing genuine love to those around her. Her hospitality was beyond measure as she always received guests with joy and generosity and an abundance of delicious homemade food. She had a natural gift for creativity and caring for others. She left a lasting legacy to her family of the importance of prayer and trust in God.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Elisa and her husband Gianpietro Anello, and Silvana and her husband Moses Marino and her six grandchildren and five great grandchildren: John Anello and his wife Katrina and children Enzo & Catalina, Lydia and her husband Matias Rojas and children Jeremiah & Sophia with another sister on the way, Gabrielle Anello, Antonino Marino and his wife Sarah, Moses Marino, and Marco Marino. She is also survived by her brother Alberto Tassa and sister Rosa Tassa and several loving nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wed, Nov 30th from 5:30-8:30pm at Casey’s Eastside Memorial at 1987 E Main St, Waterbury, CT.
A funeral will be held Thurs, Dec 1st at House of Prayer Church at 1245 Thomaston Ave, Waterbury, CT, with a calling hour from 9-10am, a memorial service beginning at 10am and followed by a burial service at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown, CT.
