WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Jose Antonio Gonzalez Sr, age 78, of Waterbury, Connecticut shares the news of his unexpected passing on Monday, May 25, 2026 at Saint Mary’s Hospital. Jose was the fiancé of the late Ms. Elsy Ednidel.

Jose was born on June 13, 1947, in Coamo, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Sergio and Mercedes (Vazquez) Gonzalez. Jose was a man of many talents and passions. He dedicated himself to hard work and was known for his creativity and craftsmanship. Gardening was his greatest love; he tended to his garden with the care and devotion that reflected his nurturing spirit. Those who knew him admired his ability to cultivate not just beautiful plants but also delicious food, which he proudly sold to share with others. Above all, Jose was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He embraced each role with unwavering love and commitment, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy will be remembered through the memories he created, the lessons he imparted, and the love he endlessly shared.

Left to honor and cherish his memory are his four children, as well as six others whom he loved like his own, and his beloved grandchild. He was predeceased by his beloved parents and is reunited with his beloved fiancé, Elsy.

A Memorial Gathering for Mr. Gonzalez will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family. WATERBURY - Es con profunda tristeza y corazón pesado que la familia del Sr. José Antonio González Sr, de 78 años, de Waterbury, Connecticut, comparte la noticia de su muerte inesperada el lunes 25 de mayo de 2026 en el Hospital Saint Mary’s. José era el prometido de la fallecida Elsy Ednidel.

José nació el 13 de junio de 1947, en Coamo, Puerto Rico, hijo del fallecido Sergio y Mercedes (Vázquez) González. José era un hombre de muchos talentos y pasiones. Se dedicó al trabajo duro y era conocido por su creatividad y artesanía. La jardinería era su mayor amor; cuidaba su jardín con el cuidado y la devoción que reflejaban su espíritu nutritivo. Aquellos que lo conocían admiraban su capacidad para cultivar no solo plantas hermosas, sino también deliciosa comida, que él orgullosamente vendió para compartir con otros. Dejados para honrar y apreciar su memoria están sus cuatro hijos, así como otros seis a quienes amaba como a los suyos, y su amado nieto. Fue prefallecido por sus amados padres y se reúne con su amada prometida, Elsy.
