WATERBURY — It is with broken hearts that the family of Mr. John A. Colucci, age 77 of Waterbury, shares the news of his peaceful passing on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Saint Mary’s Hospital surrounded by the love and prayers of his devoted family. In his own quiet way, he transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home. He was the husband of Sandra (Hoft) Colucci, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage.

John was born on December 17, 1948, in Waterbury, the son of the late Anthony and Barbara (Dunn) Colucci. He was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Wilby High School, class of 1966. John worked for many years as a Quality Control Manager/Inspector, retiring from Companion Industries in Southington after a long and dedicated career. John possessed an extraordinary creative spirit and was a truly gifted artist. His talents seemed almost limitless, whether painting, sculpting, creating stop motion animation, or simply bringing an idea to life through his hands and imagination. His artistry was not merely a pastime, but an important part of who he was and one of the many ways he shared his unique gifts with those around him. John loved painting detailed oil and acrylic paintings of famous actors, historical figures, and family members (including John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford) to name a few. John’s paintings also featured other classic Hollywood stars and television icons like James Stewart, Bruce Willis, and Audrey Hepburn. He even had his own website on foundmyself.com (oldman1948) where he displayed and sold copies of his paintings.

He was also an avid fan of classic Western movies and had a lifelong fascination with cowboys and virtually everything associated with the Old West. Those who knew John well understood how much enjoyment he found in its stories, characters, and traditions. John was exceptional in many ways, but nowhere was he more accomplished than in the roles that mattered most to him—as a devoted husband, father, son, grandfather, and friend. For all of his talents and accomplishments, there was never any question that his family was his greatest achievement and the source of his deepest pride and happiness. He treasured the people he loved and was blessed in return with the love of a close family and many, many dear friends. John's legacy will live on not only through the remarkable art he created, but through the stories and jokes he shared, the lessons he taught, the friendships he nurtured, and, most importantly, the love he gave so freely. His life was a beautiful reminder that our greatest accomplishments are ultimately measured by the lives we touch and the people we love. May John now find eternal rest and peace beyond measure, and may his memory forever remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

Left to honor his memory and cherish his legacy, beside his wife Sandra are his two daughters, Laura Colucci, Kimberly Colucci-Nyari and his son-in-law John Nyari Jr all of Waterbury. He also leaves his two brothers Michael and Peter Colucci, and Peter’s longtime partner Kathy also of Waterbury. John also leaves behind his two grandsons; Hunter Colucci and Corey Boucher and lastly his 3 grand-dogs Nala, Kaylee and Kobie. Sadly, John was predeceased by his son Jeffrey Colucci. John also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Colucci will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m, at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705.
