THOMASTON- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of John A. Carrejo, age 79, of Waterbury, say farewell for now, to our beloved husband, stepfather, brother, uncle and friend, following his passing on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, at the Vitas Inpatient Unit of St Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his beloved wife and family. He was the devoted husband of Martha (Seeley) Carrejo.
John was born on June 9, 1947, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of the late Adan and Alice (Eggleton) Carrejo. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and spent his working years as an electrician in the manufacturing field. He retired from Ward Leonard after a long and successful career. John was a hardworking man who took pride in what he did and in taking care of his family. In his free time, John enjoyed his hobbies, especially trains, woodworking and gardening. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Martha, and the time they spent together seeing new places and creating lasting memories. He appreciated good company and could often be found enjoying a glass of wine or a bourbon with good friends, sharing conversation and enjoying the moment. John will be remembered as a good friend, a dedicated husband, and a hardworking man who enjoyed the people and things that mattered most to him. He will be missed by his family and friends, but the memories of the time shared with him will remain forever.
He leaves to cherish his memory and honor his legacy his wife of 31 years, Martha, his stepsons, Antonio and Giovanni Gagliardi, his three sisters, Lorraine (David) Fischer, Katherine Bunk and Amelia Ciak and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and beloved friends who will miss him dearly.
