Obituary

TERRYVILLE- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Mrs. Jill Ann (Kresmery) Abbott, age 73, of Terryville, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her loving family. She was the beloved wife of William “Bill” Abbott Jr.

Jill was born on August 9, 1952, in Stamford, Connecticut, the beloved daughter of the late Harry and Helen (Clarke) Kresmery. She attended Stamford High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Bill. Together, they built a loving home with their children and eventually moved to Waterbury. She was a devoted homemaker and caregiver to her family. She had a great love for flowers and hummingbirds, she enjoyed taking day trips with Bill, going to the movies, and attending Broadway plays. She deeply loved her family and found great joy in supporting her grandchildren, always attending their plays, recitals, sporting events, and countless other milestones and celebrations. She took special pride in decorating her home for every holiday, creating warm memories for those around her. She loved attending concerts and had a deep appreciation for music of all kinds, especially artists like Frank Sinatra and Tina Turner. Known for her kind and welcoming spirit, she was an immediate friend to everyone she met. Ladybugs always made her smile, and her family will forever think of her when they see one.

Jill faced her health challenges with remarkable courage, bravely fighting cancer for the last year and a half. Her unwavering love for her family was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who cherished her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Left to honor and cherish her memory, besides her husband of 54 years, Bill are her children: Jennifer Alena and her husband Todd of Thomaston, William Abbott III of Southington and Ryan Abbott and his wife Amber of Smyrna, TN and her grandchildren: Jillian, Liam, Eli, Isla and Skyler. She also leaves behind her brother, Kenny Kresmery, nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and beloved friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Kresmery.
