WATERBURY - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jesse Lee Parrish, age 77 share the sad news
of his peaceful passing surrounded by the love of his family in the comfort of his home on Saturday,June 28, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Dianna Hunter Stenson Parrish, to whom he was married to for 54 wonderful years.
Jesse was born on October 06, 1947, in Raleigh, North Carolina, the son of the late Connie Parrish Walters and Clarence Dunn. Stepson of Robert Walter Sr. and raised lovingly by Mr. Hurbert and Bell Teasley. He was a graduate of DuBoise high school, and then relocated to Waterbury,CT. Jesse worked at Scovill Manufacturing and drove school buses. He delivered for Cardinal Driving Services and he went on to retire from Southbury Training School after working there for over 20 years while also being a Union Steward. Jesse had a passion for sports. He played and managed the “Unknowns” softball team,was an avid bowler, loved playing cards, and listening to music. His presence was always felt when he was around, and you couldn’t help but notice him.
He will be truly missed by many, but most of all his loving wife, Dianna.Besides his wife he leaves behind his daughter, Jacqueline Gilmore of North Carolina, stepson, Marvin Stenson Sr., niece who was raised in his home, LaTara Hemingway, his eight grandchildren ( his favorite Kendria ) and several great grandchildren. He also leaves his brothers; Robert Walter Jr., Major Walter,Charlie Walter, Michel Walter, Aaron Dunn all of NC, Harry Walter of Portland, OR, his sisters; Marry Cates of NJ, Dorris A. Dunn of NV, Pam Caesar, Shirley Walters, Patricia Perry, Carolyn Dianna Smith and stepsister Lisa Smily all of NC.
A Memorial Service for Jesse will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury.
