WATERBURY — It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Jeffrey Dupre, age 77,of Waterbury, affectionately known to all as “Jeff”, shares the news of his peaceful passing on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the VITAS Unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital. In his own quiet way, he transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home. He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Peggy (Boone) Dupre. They were wed in 1969 and shared 57 cherished years together.

Jeff was born on February 23, 1949, in Waterbury, the beloved son of the late Sam and Rella (Collins) Dupre. Jeff enlisted and served honorably in the United States Army. He was one of the brave, young soldiers who fought in the Vietnam War. Jeff fought for his country until he and his unit encountered a bomb explosion that left him severely injured by shrapnel. Unable to continue in the service due to his injuries, he received an Honorable Discharge alongside a Certificate of Recognition for his service.

Jeff was a lifetime member of the Blind Veterans Association and the American Legion, Post 0001. Earlier in life, he was employed at Blake & Johnson Manufacturing Co. and Berco Manufacturing Co. located in Waterbury, Connecticut. He also spent much of his work life in construction.

Jeff’s true character was one of kindness, patience, unselfishness, acceptance of others, and love. He always made people feel welcome, and he was always willing to help. Jeff was generally a quiet person by nature and very intelligent when given the chance to engage. He was an avid fisherman and loved to “go fishing!”. He also enjoyed playing cards and pool, but he was known as a quiet competitor when playing. His favorite saying when someone was misbehaving or not being straightforward was “He’s the Weaken Deacon”. He lived a simple, generous life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Left to honor his memory and cherish his legacy, beside his wife Peggy, are his children; Annette Dupre, Dawn (Dupre) Jackson, Jeffrey Dupre Jr., his foster daughter; Christine Rivera whom he and Peggy loved as their own, his grandchildren; Dontiea Canady, Tony Dupre, Netenya Dupre, Akilles Dipre, Infinity Rivera, and Lonnie Mack, his great grandchildren; Antwan Canady, Jeremiah Canady, Reine Rivera, Rylee Rivera; and two special nephews; Marcus Davis and Donny Dupre. Jeff also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Besides his parents, Jeff was predeceased by his sister, Lorreta Davis, and his brothers, Sam Dupre Jr. and Thomas Johnwell.

Funeral services for Mr. Dupre will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and visit Jeffrey’s family from 10:00 a.m. until the service commences at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery, 850 Meriden Rd, Waterbury.
