Beloved Mother, and Grandmother

CHESHIRE - Jean S..Martin, age 79, of Waterbury, CT, formerly of Murrells Inlet, SC, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her daughter, Tracie, son-in-law, Francis, son, Troy, and grandson, Matthew. She was the widow of Richard Martin SR.

Jean was born February 26th, 1943 in New Haven, CT, the daughter of the late Arline Watts Domizio and Anthony “Grumpy” Domizio. She was raised in Waterbury, where she attended local schools and spent many years working in the restaurant industry, managing several restaurants throughout the area, including Amigos, The Waterbury Club, and the Elks Lodge. After retiring, she moved to Murrells Inlet, SC, where she made a new home until returning to CT to reside with her daughter in Cheshire. Jean was a member of The Moose Lodge, and enjoyed participating in many of the activities at the Prospect Senior Center. Unique in many ways, Jean made the world a better place; all who knew her are blessed and grateful to have had her in their lives.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children, Tracie Switajewski and her husband, Francis, of Cheshire, with whom she made her home; Todd Colitti and his wife, Tammy, of Abilene, TX; Troy Martin of Litchfield; and Richard “Buffy” Martin II and his partner, Jennifer, of Watertown. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Matthew and his significant other, Tara, Todd II, Megan, Michael, Devon, Olivia, and Hannah (Max), in addition to several great-grandchildren: Vivian, Scarlett, Michael, Kai, and Paxton, as well as other extended family members and friends.

Graveside services for Mrs. Martin will be held on Monday, February 27th, 2023, at 11:00a.m. in New Pine Grove Cemetery, 850 Meriden Road, Waterbury, CT. Although there are no calling hours, Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT, has had the privilege to care for Jean and the Martin family during this difficult time. To honor Jean’s memory and in lieu of flowers, contributions to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated by her family.
