Mrs. Jean M. Bochicchio

January 14, 1932 — June 21, 2024

Waterbury

“Devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother”

WATERBURY – Jean M. (Tartaglia) Bochicchio, age 92, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2024, surrounded by her devoted children at the Sheriden Woods Nursing Center in Bristol. She was the widow of William J. Bochicchio Sr., who passed in 2019.

Jean was born on January 14, 1932, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lena (Jamele) Tartaglia. She graduated from Walsh Elementary and Wilby High Schools and worked for many years as the Parish Secretary and Financial Steward at St Margaret RC Church. A devout Catholic, she spent many years working for and dedicated to her parish, St Margaret. While she had many passions, nothing was more important to Jean than the well being of her family and friends. Gathering with them as often as possible, Jean loved baking and cooking for her loved ones. Jean and her husband Bill enjoyed summers camping by the ocean, exploring New England, and venturing on many road trips to Florida. Jean loved to laugh and have fun and was a source of happiness and strength in our lives. She instilled in her children a strong work ethic, as well as the importance of community. Jean was the embodiment of support, growth, and unwavering love to all that knew her. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made, for the thousands of embraces you gave, for the words of wisdom and tough love that you shared, and for the countless meals that your hands lovingly prepared and nourished us. The legacy of unending love and faith you are leaving behind lives on in all that you created with your beautiful life. Mere words are but a feeble attempt to express our family’s gratitude for all of the care and love that the staff at Sheriden Woods shared with Mom and all of us, during her illness and passing.

Left to honor Jean’s legacy and treasure her memory are her children; Linda Egan and her husband Gerard of Bristol, Joby Veillette and her husband Andre of Wolcott, Cathy Bochicchio and her fiancée Rick Duchaine of Wolcott, James and his wife Judith of Waterbury, William Jr. and his wife Pamela of Watertown, Richard and his wife Kayrnne of Glastonbury, and Joseph and his wife Jeanne of Bristol, 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Besides her loving husband, William Sr. Jean was predeceased by her sister, Joby Capozio and her brothers; Louis, Jerro and Richard Tartaglia.  She also leaves her brother, Dante Tartaglia and his wife Betty of Watertown and her sister-in-law, Patricia Tartaglia of Waterbury.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bochicchio will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, 180 Robbins Street, Waterbury.
