WATERTOWN– Mr. James Patrick Cunningham Jr., age 63, of Watertown, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 surrounded by the love and care of his devoted family.
James was born on October 30, 1960 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late James P. Cunningham Sr., and Margaret Cocchiola Cunnigham. He was a graduate of Kaynor Technical High School and went on to work at Traver Electric, Electro Power, Summit Corporation of America and then retired from Watertown Engineering. James was a fan of UCONN Men’s basketball, and the LA Rams. He always was the life of the party and knew how to have a good time. James threw the best 4th of July parties which he held every year. Jim was exceptional in almost every way but he excelled at being a devoted brother, uncle and friend. Our family thanks you Jim for the many sacrifices you made for us for the thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, are his sisters; Janice Borg and husband Dana, Donna Tartaglia and husband David, Marianne Macchi and her husband Philip, his three nephews, five nieces, five great nephews, and four great nieces. He also leaves his aunt, Patricia Lafferty, his cousin, Brian Lafferty who was like a brother to him and who was always there to help him, along with extended family and friends. James was predeceased by his brother, Steven Thomas Cunningham.
His family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Hartford Healthcare Hospice for their compassion, care, and treatment provided to James and his family during his illness.
A Memorial Gathering for Mr. Cunningham will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Casey-O’Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville CT 06779. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with the Cunningham family on Tuesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Casey - O’Neill Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 742 Main Street, Oakville.
