Grew up in Giffoni Valle Piana, Italy

OAKVILLE - Ida Milite, age 94, of Oakville, passed away at her home on March 15, 2023, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after an extended illness. She was the widow of Luigi Milite.

Ida was born March 25th, 1928, in New York City, the daughter of the late Antonio and Clara (Rocco) DeVito. Her mother passed when Ida was an infant, and her father brought her to his parent’s home in Giffoni Valle Piana, Italy, where she was raised and educated. She returned to
New York in her early twenties. She and her husband Luigi eventually settled in Oakville, where they raised their family. Ida spent many years working as a seamstress for Hilda Dress Co. and later worked for Con Diesel until its closing. Ida will be remembered as being social, an excellent cook, devoted grandmother to her grandchildren, whom she helped raise. Ida made the world a better place for all of us, and we are all blessed and thankful to have had her in our lives.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, JoAnn Zanavich and her husband, Thomas of Oakville, her five grandchildren, Derek (Jane), Neil (Emily), Jason (Elizabeth), Jesse, Nadine as well as her six great-grandchildren, and son-in-law James Hilby. She was predeceased by her daughter, Clara Hilby.

Ida’s family would like to thank and acknowledge caretakers Linda and Lorraine for the wonderful care and companionship they provided during her illness.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of her family. There are no calling hours.
