WATERBURY Howard E. Monahan, age76 of Waterbury, CT passed away peacefully on Friday December 24, 2021 at the Village Green of Bristol, after an extended illness. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life and best friend Deborah Monahan, as well as a proud father and grandfather.

Howard was born November 4, 1945 in Waterbury, the son of the late Francis and Theresa (Lengyel) Monahan. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a skilled carpenter and craftsman. Howard enjoyed watching the History channel, especially programs regarding the military and planes. He also enjoyed taking long walks at the local parks. Anyone that met Howard would quickly realize that he was the life of the party, loved to make others laugh and enjoyed meeting new people. He made friends everywhere he went. Howard was his happiest while spending time with his family and grandchildren. He always looked forward to weekly weekend getaways with his wife Deborah, including trips to Vermont to visit his grandsons.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory besides his wife Deborah of 53 years are his two children: Christian Monahan and his fiancé Sophia Velez of Waterbury and Myriah Cogswell and her husband Daniel of Bristol, VT. He also leaves his 2 grandsons which he adored, Oliver and Henry Cogswell as well as his brothers, John Monahan and Thomas Mantovani (Monahan) and his sisters Ethel McManus (Monahan) and Mary Benotti (Monahan), as well as many nieces and nephews.
