PINE MEADOW - It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Herbert R. Severson Jr., age 63, of Pine Meadow, shares the news of his unexpected passing on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Marcia (Matyka) Severson.

Herbert was born on July 24, 1962, in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Maureen and Herbert R. Severson Sr. Herbert will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a man whose greatest joy in life was his family. His wife and children were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories filled with warmth, laughter, and love. He was a classically trained, French chef whose passion for cooking was legendary. As an avid animal lover he had a special bond with his dogs, Zoe and Leo his constant companions. Beyond his deep dedication to family, Herbert held a remarkable passion for tabletop roleplaying games. His creativity knew no bounds, and his storytelling ability felt timeless and captivating to all who had the privilege of sitting at his table. He found immense joy in crafting rich worlds and unforgettable adventures, writing stories not just for himself, but for others to step into, explore, and bring to life. Herbert’s legacy lives on in the countless tales he shared, the imagination he inspired, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of his family and all those who were lucky enough to know him.

Left to honor and cherish his memory besides his beloved wife, Marcia, are his children, Marissa Severson, Ian Severson, and Erik Severson. Herbert was predeceased by is parents, Herbert R. Severson Sr. and Maureen Severson, his sister, Maureen (Severson) Levy, and his son, Sean Severson.

Funeral services for Mr. Severson will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
