Henrietta Rose Morrissey

WOLCOTT– Henrietta Rose (Gass) Morrissey, age 83, of Wolcott, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2023, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family at Saint Mary’s Hospital. Henrietta was the devoted wife of Paul Morrissey for 64 years. She was known for her kind heart, her generous spirit, and her unwavering love for her family.

Henrietta was born on October 26, 1939, in Waterbury, CT to the late Irving and Rose (Vignali) Gass. She was raised in Waterville, attended local schools, and graduated from Wilby High School. She spent most of her career at Timex Corporation in Middlebury, followed by General DataComm in Waterbury until her retirement.

Hennie met the love of her life, Paul, at the age of 18, and together they raised a beautiful loving family on Maplerow Avenue in Waterbury before recently moving to Wolcott. She was an avid reader, endless puzzle maker and enjoyed trips to the casinos. Hennie had a passion for growing beautiful flower gardens that she enjoyed sharing with others. She will always be remembered for her amusing antics, as she had a great sense of humor and always kept life interesting.

Hennie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was the heart and soul of the family and left behind many lasting memories for her loved ones to cherish. The family will fondly remember Hennie’s unwavering strength, instilling the value of doing everything with gusto, and loving family more than her next breath.

She is survived by the love of her life, Paul, and their children who will honor her legacy and cherish her memory: Susan (Anthony) Pelliccio of Wolcott with whom she made her home, Karen (Charles) Montgomery of Waterbury, Paula Morrissey of Woodbury, and Michael (Christine) Morrissey of Shelton. She is also survived by her beloved nine grandchildren: Tara Montgomery, Lauren (Melissa) Miele, Jordan Montgomery, Melissa Miele, Nicholas Jones, Alanna Miele, Lisa (Jake) Dugan, Reilly Morrissey, and Ella Morrissey, step-grandchild Stephanie Pelliccio, and her great-grandchildren: Kailey Burgos, Chase Dugan, and Chloe Dugan. She also leaves behind her loving sisters, Sophie (Paul) Squillace and Maria (Ronald) Desaulniers, along with many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, extended family, and childhood friends who were her lifelong treasures. Hennie was predeceased by her son Patrick Morrissey, her siblings, Concetta (Roland) Jolly, Irving (Barbara) Gass Jr., Anthony (Joyce) Gass, and Ronald (Angel) Gass.

A tribute service in Henrietta’s memory will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 11:00am at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury CT 06705. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Family and friends may visit with the Morrissey family from 9:00am until the tribute service commences at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, Hennie’s family requests you share her love of gardening by gifting someone you care about a “Hennie bouquet” as a sweet remembrance of her. It would bring Hennie joy to know that you are brightening someone’s day.
