Beloved Son, Father, Brother & Friend
WATERBURY- Hector J. Rivera. age 40, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at Saint Mary’s Hospital on February 1st, 2023 after sustaining injuries from a motor vehicle accident. He was the beloved father of Iyana Rivera.
Hector was born August 2nd, 1982, in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, the son of Maria (Negron) Rivera and the late Edwin G. Rivera. He grew up in Waterbury and was a skilled carpenter working for various contractors in the Waterbury area. Hector loved traveling, taking rides in his car, and especially enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and loved working as a carpenter. Hector was truly unique in so many ways. He made the world a better place for all of us, and we are all blessed and thankful to have had him in our lives.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are his mother, Maria Negro of Puerto Rico, daughter, Iyana “Yaya” Rivera of Waterbury, Fiancé Maia Johnson of Waterbury, his sister, Yaritza Rivera and brothers; Edwin Rivera and Devon Latimore, all of Waterbury as well as other extended family members and many friends.
Services for Mr. Rivera will be held on Friday, February 10th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St. Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with hectors family on Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Loving kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence, words of comfort, or share a memory with the family and friends of someone important to you.
