EAST GRANBY- It is with profound sadness that the family of Gregorio Hernandez Jr., age 56 of East Granby, formerly of Waterbury and Bridgeport, shares the news of his peaceful passing at Saint Francis Hospital, surrounded by those he loved on Friday, November 14, 2025, after an extended illness.

Gregorio was born on May 21, 1969, in Bridgeport, CT, the son of the late Gregorio Sr., and Lucy (Pitre) Hernandez. He grew up in Bridgeport and then moved to Waterbury, attending local schools and went on to work as a handyman, showcasing his skills and dedication in various capacities. Gregorio had a passion for life that was evident in his love for nature, fishing, and caring for animals. He found joy in the simple pleasures, spending countless hours feeding the creatures that visited his yard. He carried with him a deep affection for his Puerto Rican heritage, often sharing the beauty of his culture through music and dance, bringing joy to those around him. More than anything, he treasured time spent with his beloved family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Janida (Luis) Hernandez, his son, Desean Gonzalez, and 5 grandchildren. He also leaves his sisters; Grisel Hernandez Pitre and Isabella DuBois, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in a Celebration of Gregorio’s Life on Thursday, November 20, 2025, with visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705.
