WATERTOWN- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Frederick J. Cocchiola, age 57, of Watertown, announces his peaceful passing at Danbury Hospital on July 23, 2026.
Fred was born on December 06, 1968, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of Norma (O'Rourke) Gregory and the late Frederick A. Cocchiola. While living in Bethlehem, Fred participated in many town programs, including T-Ball, Little League, football, and Red Cross swimming classes at Long Meadow Lake beach. Fred was also involved in Cub Scouts and Webelos when his Dad was the Webelos leader. Moving to Ohio with his family, Fred, along with his brothers, got involved in BMX racing in Brookville, Ohio, and with their Dad on the sidelines with his wrenches and air pump to fix any bike problems, they won many Trophies. When Fred got older, he moved back to Connecticut and worked at the Risdon Manufacturing Company in Thomaston, CT, as a machinist for many years. Also, Fred loved to cook and worked part-time at The Olive Tree Restaurant in Southbury for many years alongside the owners, Sam and Carrie, whom he dearly loved. Fred will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to love and know him.
Besides his mother Norma, he leaves behind his two brothers, Billy Cocchiola and Dean Cocchiola, his sister Dana Cocchiola Bruton, stepbrother Chris Gregory, and a stepsister Brenda Gregory, along with eighteen nieces and nephews who he adored. Fred leaves behind his very special and faithful friend Julie. Fred was predeceased by his brother Tim Cocchiola.
