Obituary

WATERBURY – It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Francis W. Geigle, age 82, of Waterbury, say farewell for now, to our beloved husband, father and grandfather following his peaceful passing on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the Autumn Lake Nursing Center in New Britain. He was the beloved husband to Diane (Rainville) Geigle.

Francis was born on January 12, 1944, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the beloved son of the late Francis P. Geigle and Eileen (Cole) Geigle. A lifelong Waterbury resident, he graduated from Croft High School in 1961. For most of his professional life he repaired all types of machines, from cars to cash registers to ATMs. Most of that time was spent as a Field Engineer at NCR where he and his family formed many lifelong friendships. With an unwavering work ethic, he always lent a helping hand to anyone in need.

Francis was an avid golfer and loved watching NASCAR. His strong faith was his constant strength and guided him as a devoted parishioner at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. He had a profound love for animals; his heart was often open to rescuing stray cats and dogs and welcoming them into his home. Family was everything to him, he cherished all his memories with his children and grandchildren and supported them throughout their life. He will be deeply missed but his warmth, kindness and generosity will be forever treasured and remembered by all who were blessed to know and love him. May he rest in peace and may God hold him in the palm of his hands.

Besides his wife Diane, of 54 years, left to cherish and honor his memory are his sons: Francis P. Geigle of Newington and John A. Geigle and his wife, Natalie of Stratford, and his grandchildren: Alexander, Brendan, Kiernan and Aedan. He also leaves behind his sister, Patricia Beck of Waterbury and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and beloved friends. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, David Beck.

Funeral Services for Mr. Geigle will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St, Waterbury, CT to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and visit with the Geigle family on Saturday morning from 8:30 until the procession leaves for church at 9:30 am at the funeral home. In this time of reflection, the family welcomes all who knew and loved Francis to share messages of condolence, comfort, and cherished memories.
