Devoted to his family
NAUGATUCK - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we share news of the passing of our beloved husband, father and Pop-Pop Francis P. Alcorace Jr. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Carol Byer-Alcorace.
Frank was born January 23, 1945 in Waterbury, the son of the late Pasquale F. and Sally (née Zerenner) Alcorace. He graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar School, Croft High School, and Paier school of Art, and earned a master’s degree in art design from NYIT. He first worked for the Republican - American and then Eastern Color before launching his own art design business. He also served as a member of the Naugatuck Arts Commission, and in later years worked as a school crossing guard. While Frank faced many challenges early in life, he persevered to build a solid, loving family of his own. He had a dry sense of humor and spoke little of himself. He loved the beach, with family trips to Block Island being some of the happiest times in his life. Frank especially loved spending time with his wife and sons, and being Pop-Pop to his grandson.
Frank thrived by helping others in any way he could, and he instilled in his children a strong work ethic, commitment to family and a love of Star Trek. His life was a testament to the power of resilience, perseverance, and of serving your community. May he find eternal rest and peace beyond measure and may he never be forgotten.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his wife Carol Byer-Alcorace and his sons: Gabe Byer-Alcorace and his wife Marissa Chabon of Southbury; and Alex Byer-Alcorace and his wife Alexis Byer-Alcorace of Woodbury, as well as his grandson, Finnick. He also leaves two sisters; Sally McDonald of Wolcott and Josephine Alcorace of Waterbury, and several nieces and nephews to whom he will always be “Uncle Butch.”
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Alcorace will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 2234 East Main St., Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to form a procession at the main gate by 10:50 a.m. There are no calling hours.
