OAKVILLE- Eugene H. Thornberg, age 92 of Oakville, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Waterbury Hospital, due to complications from the covid virus. He was the devoted husband of Joan (Hirbour) Thornberg.

Eugene was born on December 11, 1930, in Oakville, son of the late Harry and Antoinette (Diamond) Thornberg. He attended local schools and proudly served his country for 8 years in the U.S. Navy Reserves during the Korean Conflict. He had a long career in the metal finishing industry where he started as a novice and worked his way up to management. There, he developed many lifelong friends and valued relationships. After retiring, he worked for Ramdy Corp. in Oakville as a driver for 17 years.

Eugene was a member of the American Electroplater’s Society, an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing cards. He was a handyman and proficient in wallpapering and painting. He enjoyed traveling across the country with Joan and spending winters in Florida where they made many lasting friendships. With a great sense of humor and a caring nature, he would go out of his way to help anyone in need. His legacy of being a loving husband and a proud father who enjoyed spending time with family will last forever. For all that were blessed to have known him, he will be greatly missed.
