Eric Paul
Jones
November 22, 1961 – March 30, 2026
WATERBURY – It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family of Eric Paul Jones, age 63, of Waterbury, shares news of his unexpected departure of his earthly life on March 30, 2026 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Ann (Harrington) Jones.
Eric was born on November 22, 1961, in Jamaica, Queens, New York, the son of the late Joshua L. Jones and Francine Jones. Eric grew up on Springfield Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens, where he developed an early entrepreneurial spirit. At a young age, he began beautifying his neighborhood by designing tire planters and selling them to his neighbors. Throughout his teenage years, Eric participated in summer youth programs and later graduated from Springfield High School. Following high school, Eric attended SUNY College, where he obtained his degree. He worked several jobs before finding his dream career with NYC Transit. Eric began as a train conductor and worked his way up to track foreman. He dedicated over 30 years of service before retiring. Eric cherished his spare time, especially when it was spent with his wife and children. Together, they enjoyed traveling and creating lasting memories as a family. He also deeply loved spending time with his grandchildren, sharing laughter and meaningful conversations that brought him great joy. Eric had a strong passion for basketball, often playing with his son, whom he proudly coached; together, they celebrated many victories. One of Eric’s most treasured memories was shopping with his mother, an activity they both truly enjoyed. He also valued the time he spent talking with his father about New York transit, a shared interest, as his father was a retired MTA worker. At a certain point in his life, Eric began studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses, a faith he felt strongly about and took an active interest in. His beliefs became an important part of his life and personal journey. Eric will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who were blessed to know and love him. Though he is gone, he will never be forgotten
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are his loving wife, Ann Jones; his two sons, Malcolm Baker and Devon Watts; and his beloved granddaughters, Zai’hara Baker, Amoura Baker, Aloura Baker, and Jahmyyllah Watts. He is also survived by his four siblings: Darryl Jones, Jason Jones, Sister G. Vanessa O’Neill, and Jacqueline Jones, along with his nieces, nephews, and extended family.
