Mr. Emilio Sinopoli's Obituary

WATERTOWN  - With deep respect and gratitude for a life shaped by honest hard work and enduring craftsmanship, Emilio Sinopoli (74) of Watertown, left this world as he lived it – with quiet strength, steady hands, and unshakable dedication to his work and family on February 20th 2026. He was a beloved husband, devoted father, brother and above all a treasured Papa

Emilio was born on August 2, 1951 in Calabria, Italy, the adored son of the late Vincenzo and Mariangela (Tirinato) Sinopoli. At the young age of 16, he left his parents  chasing his dream of a better life, joining his brother in Switzerland;there, he quickly learned to speak French and the art of gardening. Three years later with a little more than a suitcase and unable to speak English, he came to the USA. Quickly putting his talents of gardening and masonry he began to chase the American dream not only for himself but for his future family. For decades he worked as a stone mason, shaping foundations, chimneys, wall and walkways that will stand for generations. With his values and creative vision, he believed in anything is worth building… build it to last. Each stone he laid was set with care, patience and pride which helped with the success of starting a masonry business with his brother in 1974.His talent and creativity were evident in his work, as he transformed The Gardens at Red Mill Estate in Washington, CT where he expertly crafted stunning gardens, walkway, fountains and walls. Earning recognition in Smithsonian and Connecticut Cottages & Gardens Magazine his work will leave a legacy for generations to appreciate.Beyond his trade, he was man of deep love for his wife, Grace, children and grandchildren. To his family, he was the foundation-steady, reliable and strong.Outside of work he enjoyed making his family “audience” laugh with his wit and humor, relaxing sipping on an espresso and sharing what he did with the vegetables he grew.

Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy, besides his wife of 52wonderful years, Grace are his children; his daughter, Lucy Nosal and her husband Joe of Cheshire, his son, Kevin and his wife Christina of Oakville, his siblings; Domenico Sinopoli, Rosa Chiaravalloti, Connie Sinopoli, Cosmina Scozzafava, and Salvatore Sinopoli as well as his 6 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members. He was predeceased by his brother, John Sinopoli and his “parents” Joe and Teresa DiStasi
