Obituary

WATERBURY- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Elizabeth Buczak Rinaldi, age 100 of Waterbury, share news of her passing at her home on September 6, 2026. She was the beloved widow of Michael Buczak and Louis Rinaldi.

Elizabeth was born in Waterbury, CT in 1926. She attended Catholic High School and graduated with honors. After high school, she worked at Scovill Manufacturing and held a variety of positions throughout her career. Liz would share stories of growing up in Waterbury including walking downtown with friends for a show at the Cameo Theater. Elizabeth was a lifelong learner and curious about the world around her. She enjoyed reading, dancing and always appreciated a good cup of coffee and sweet treat. Liz loved to travel, especially throughout New England and to the National Parks. A true highlight was a trip to Italy with her daughter, visiting her parents' birthplace. Elizabeth’s faith was very important to her and a source of comfort and strength. She was fortunate to have many dear friends who supported her throughout her life and was most grateful for their kindness and friendship. Elizabeth’s caring nature and generous spirit will live on in her family, friends, and the lives she has touched, most especially with her cherished daughter Mary Laliberte and husband Richard.

Our deepest thanks to her compassionate caregivers at Franciscan Hospice. Their gentle kindness, exceptional care and unwavering support brought comfort to Elizabeth and strength to us during this difficult time. We are forever grateful.

Funeral Services for Elizabeth will be held on Thursday, September 10th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary Mother of the Church, St Leo the Great Church, 15 Bentwood Dr, Waterbury, CT. All those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705, has been honored to assist the family during this most difficult time.
