CASEY'S IS HONORED TO SERVE THE SHEA FAMILY AT OUR WATERBURY LOCATION
WATERBURY - It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of Edward “Eddie” Shea, age 66, of Waterbury, announce his unexpected passing at home on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
Edward was born March 4, 1958, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Timothy F. and Eileen (Traver) Shea. He was a graduate of Kennedy High School and proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1980 to 1984, serving aboard the USS Nemitz, Aircraft Carrier. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Edward served as a merchant marine and attended Charter Oak Community College, where he earned his bachelor's degree. Eddie held various engineering positions throughout the state, most recently at Central Connecticut State University, where he worked as an Operating Engineer and retired as a Plant Manager in 2022. Ed was a proud loving supportive father to his son, Daniel Shea. He was an avid Red Sox fan who enjoyed fishing, traveling, especially the family’s annual vacations to Narragansett RI and taking walks with his faithful companion, Marley. Eddie was fluent in Japanese and was an accomplished black belt in Ju Jitsu martial arts. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. Ed Shea was a “good man”.
Left to honor his memory and cherish his legacy are his son, Daniel Shea, with whom he made his home, his siblings; James Shea of Old Saybrook, Joseph Shea of Prospect, Timothy Shea of Bethel, Thomas Shea of Prospect, Terrence Shea of Waterbury, and Susan Shea of Prospect. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John Shea, and sister, Eileen M. Shea.
