Obituary

WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Edward “Ed” Thomas Mussa, age 79, of Waterbury, shares the news of his passing on Monday, February 23, 2026, in the comfort of his home.

Edward was born on July 7, 1946, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of the late Louis and Ethel (White) Mussa. Edward received his bachelor’s degree from New Haven College and went on to earn a master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State College, a testament to his dedication to education and personal growth. Ed would then go on to dedicate over 40 years of his life to teaching at Sacred Heart School in New Britain, where he inspired countless students with his passion for learning and commitment to education. His ambitious spirit led him to take on other jobs as well, having spent many years working at Langley’s and Macy’s in addition to his role as an educator. An avid traveler, Edward explored the world with the same enthusiasm he brought to all aspects of life. His travels brought him to Russia, China, Japan, Morocco, the British Isles, Denmark, St. Martin, Hong Kong, Reno, Nevada, Las Vegas, Nevada, Hawaii, and Chichen Itza, Mexico, where he actually climbed a pyramid. Edward enjoyed trips to the casinos, sharing laughter and excitement with friends and family. Edward was a long-term resident of Bunker Hill, where he created lasting bonds with friends and neighbors.

Left to honor and cherish his memory and legacy are his niece, Kristen Kelly of Wolcott; his nephew, Kevin Blinn and his wife Hilda of Watertown; his great-niece, Katelyn Kelly of Waterbury; his great-nephews, John Kelly of Hartford and Joseph Kelly of Bristol, and his adored great-great-niece, Lucy Mae Kelly of Bristol. Ed also leaves behind many extended family members and friends. Edward was predeceased by his sister, Mary (Blinn) Mussa, and his brother-in-law, John Blinn.
